Dr Stephen Riley is a contemporary British artist whose interests centre on the physical and cultural structures through which art and other visual appeals to the imagination are made and made visible. His work is an exploration of the material and formal possibilities of paint, surfaces and associated media, and of the cultural uses and implications of visual forms. He has exhibited widely and has work in collections in the UK, continental Europe and the USA. He is also a published author and writes for arts periodicals and lectures in fine art. He lives and works on the outskirts of Bruton in the English county of Somerset.
