This is one of several paintings done on picture frame moulding, reversing the normal relationship between frame and painting: what is normally outside is now foregrounded. As with all of my work, these paintings are experiments with the nature and material of painting. In each case, the abstract forms on the surface contradict the rigid geometry of the moulding.
