Untitled Ink Study No. 7 - water-based inks with watercolours

New works on paper

Wade in the Watercolours
I have to admit I've been a little remiss with this website lately. The reason – multiple other things going on. Photography, which I regard as an equal part of my practice, has been a key feature, including last year’s exhibition with Gillian Scott Moore, but also, endeavours to put on other photography exhibitions (and sometimes painting exhibitions) – not an easy task in this part of the world, where small towns are separated by thousands of acres populated only by sheep. Galleries are few and far between, and those that would be interested in my kind of output are even rarer.

But, anyway, I do have something to show. These are some of last year’s winter and early spring paintings. I tend to skip the studio in winter because it is so cold, and do small water-based works in the house. These are some of they. I can only put one on here – that’s the nature of this website template – but the rest can be found in ‘Small Works on Paper’.

They are available to buy, as is everything else. But these are especially cheap – £10-£100 – because they are small water-based works and because I’d rather they found a home than be sat around unseen. None is bigger than about 14 inches across; some are tiny – just a few inches across. Contact me if interested. I should add, as these are largely made with inks, they need to be properly protected under anti-UV glass and kept of out direct or strong light.

The other bit of news is that I have done away with the 'Sketches' pages on this site. They first appeared after someone saw a few of my sketches and, fired with enthusiasm, suggested I put them on here. It's a decision I was never really comfortable with. Sketches are somehow private, unlike works made to be exhibited, and while some are better than others, I felt it best to take the lot down. If anyone is really interested, studio visits can always be arranged.
